I confess! I overlooked the pop-punk movement of the mid 2000s. What’s more, any hope of catching on was all too late. As MySpace declined, with it, the curtain seemed to close on the scene.
But I’ll never forget the words of a friend and successful guitarist. Though far removed from pop-punk, they argued the genre was great because it was cultivating “proper” musicians.
That conversation changed my perspective. So when Realigned by DONEFOR landed, it gave me a chance to reassess. Released on 31st January 2025, it’s a punk-rock track that will have many reminiscing—and give me a shot at righting my wrongs.
This is a song that showcases a band with serious skill in their craft. The drums thunder, the guitars scream, and the bass weaves through with threatening melodies. Every part moves in cohesion, creating a masterful display of musicianship.
With their own spin on the genre, Realigned dips into metal and reggae breaks, adding fresh dynamics. As for the chorus? It’s epic, euphoric, and delivered with characterful vocals that scream for a stadium. Like pop-punk survivors Paramore, DONEFOR have the tools to go the distance. They’ve picked up the remnants of the mid-2000s scene and crafted an infectious gem.
